SUPPORT

Thank you for landing on the “Support Onza” page!!

The Orff approach was developed in Germany in the early decades of the 20th century by composer Carl Orff and his associate, Gunild Keetman, and is now globally widespread. Orff New Zealand Aotearoa membership is largely made up of teachers who help children learn through engagement in singing, moving and making music together, using material drawn from the imaginative and cultural world of the child.

At the heart of this approach is a commitment to the development of every child. It is not an approach to music education which seeks to identify a ‘talented’ few but rather awaken in all children the ability to express themselves artistically – primarily through the medium of music and movement.

Your support is vital in helping Orff teachers do their work in school and community settings nation wide, and to organize such public events as Marimba Festivals and Creative Play Festivals. It is also vital in helping ONZA fund professional development for teachers, create teaching resources, publicise its activities, and function effectively as an incorporated society and registered charity.
