This workshop will be of interest to music teachers, music therapists and those who use drumming and percussion within their curriculum or as a medium when working with various groups of people, for example, aged care; youth; mainstream education and special needs.
The workshop will cater to those who are new to hand drumming, those who are experienced or individuals who wish to explore the use of drumming more and extend their skills.

- Learning basic rhythmic patterns and composing these into an ensemble
- Rhythm games and exercises
- Using Boomwhackers and percussion
- Improvisation
Presenter: Neil Jourdan is a registered music therapist and teacher who works full time within special needs education. He is an enthusiastic percussionist and drummer who has over 17 years’ experience in drumming and drum facilitation. Originally from South Africa, Neil has trained and worked with many Djembe teachers, both in Africa and the UK. In more recent years he has focussed on the frame drum and both plays and builds Shamanic inspired ceremonial drums.
