Sing, Say, Dance and Play: Exploring Myths and Legends – Kerikeri

This workshop for Primary School teachers explores Music and Movement motivated by Myths and Legends, using language, singing, playing and moving.   Come and learn new, practical music ideas you can use in your class today.

Debbie Graham is a music mentor in ORFF music for Northland teachers.  She also teaches vocals to NCEA singing students and leads school choirs.  Previously, Debbie was a Primary School Music teacher at Tauraroa Area School and a Te Ao Maori tutor with Ngati Wai Education, learning traditional games and waiata to engage students.  Deb is an experienced  Musical Theatre performer, with her most memorable roles being Eponine in Les, Miserables, Lucy in Jekyll and Hyde, Grizabella in Cats and Madam Giry in The Phantom of the Opera, all staged in Whangarei.  She is a founding member of Opera North, having sung under the tuition of Joan Kennaway QMC.  She has completed Level 1 and 2 Orff Courses and continues to implement and adapt many ideas based on the Orff approach into her mentoring programme, using a Northland flavour.
