Using music and dance to enhance the theme of Papatuanuku
This workshop offers opportunities for exploration, singing, playing and moving on the theme of Papatuanuku. We will explore ways to enhance student-centred music-making with student choice and their personal artistic expression.

PRESENTERS:

Renée Morin

The Orff approach was part of Renée’s music education training in the 1990s in Canada. She completed postgraduate study in the Orff approach to music and dance education at the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria in 2010-2011. She is an experienced Orff facilitator with a particular interest in movement and dance.

Michelle Hall is a local Gisborne teacher who specialises in the Performing Arts.  Passionate about drama, dance and music, she incorporates the arts into her teaching wherever possible.  The Orff approach is especially dear to Michelle’s teaching, and Makaraka School has adopted the approach into their Friday programme,  school performances and assemblies. Michelle is a keen advocate for The Arts in education and is pleased to share some of her pedagogy with you.
