Sing, Say, Dance and Play: Exploring Myths and Legends

This workshop for Primary Music teachers explores Music and Dance motivated from Myths and Legends, using language, singing, playing and moving.  We will learn warm up games using beat and rhythm, with rakau. We will learn songs and create presentations using language, body percussion, singing, playing and movement.  We will work in groups responding to music and stories through fun movement activities.  Come and learn new, practical music ideas you can use in your class today.

Debbie Graham is theprimary school Music, Dance and Drama teacher at Tauraroa Area School . She also teaches vocals to NCEA singing students and takes  a Junior and Senior Choir. Previously, Debbie was a tutor with Ngati Wai Education, learning traditional games and waiata to engage students.
Deb is an experienced  Musical Theatre performer, with her most memorable roles being Eponine in Les Miserables, Lucy in Jeckyll and Hyde, Grizabella in Cats and Madam Giry in The Phantom of the Opera,
She is a founding member of Opera North, having sung under the tuition of Joan Kennaway QMC
She has recently completed Level 2 Orff professional development and is implementing and adapting  many ideas based on the Orff approach into her school programme, using a Northland flavour.
