Songs from Tama Nui te Rā – the Sun: Auckland

Come and enjoy a musical morning with Christoph Maubach. Briefly back in NZ Christoph will share musical activities and ideas based on the theme ‘Te Rā’ (the Sun) through movement, singing and playing.  In the afternoon Jeremy Hantler will lead a play through of a great selection of “Songs from Tama-Nui-Te-Rā” the chosen repertoire for this year’s Marimba festival.

 

Christoph Maubach  Cologne, GER and Northland, NZ Christoph Maubach divides his time as music and movement teacher and workshop leader between Germany and New Zealand. He is an internationally recognized Orff Schulwerk teacher and a community music facilitator. Christoph holds an M. Ed from the University of Melbourne, a Grad Dip in Teaching from the University of Waikato and a Diploma of music and movement education from the Orff-Institute in Salzburg. He lectured in music education at Waikato University and before that at ACU in Melbourne. In Germany he teaches music and dance at Youth Music Organizations in Berlin and provides vocal workshops for Cappella groups. Christoph is an active Board member of the International Orff Schulwerk Forum Salzburg (IOSFS) and conducts workshops in Taiwan, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. In February 2024 Christoph leads the North Island Singing Tour in AOTEAROA with Heart Choir No. 8.

 

 

Jeremy Hantler   With a strong musical upbringing and a Jazz performance degree, Jeremy began his teaching pathway by sharing his love of Taonga Pūoro and Waiata Māori with primary school Kapahaka groups. Armed with a GradDip and ONZA levels 1-4, he has taught in over 20 schools and run a CRT music programme in 3. He has attended music education workshops in Austria, Italy, Sweden, and Estonia, as well as learning and presenting at workshops and wananga locally. Jeremy is passionate about equipping young people with the tools, awareness and inclination to express themselves musically.
