SING MOVE PLAY
WELCOME TO ONZA
Kia ora mō tō haerenga mai ki tā tātou whārangi ipurangi
Thank You for coming to our website
ONZA promotes the Orff approach: a way of teaching music that explores the relationship between music, movement and speech. It approaches musical learning in active ways that are responsive to the interests, contexts and abilities of students. We are a New Zealand organisation affiliated to the International Orff-Schulwerk Forum Salzburg. From its beginnings in Western Europe in the early 20th century, Orff Schulwerk or The Orff Approach inspired a global movement of music and movement educators. ONZA members are active across Aotearoa applying the principles of the Orff approach in distinctly kiwi ways in education, therapy and community settings. From festivals to courses, workshops, instrument hire and a specialist library, everything that ONZA does is about people gaining skills and attitudes that will set them up for a lifelong enjoyment of music and related arts. Whether you are new to music education, new to New Zealand, or looking for new inspiration, you’ll find lots of helpful material and links here. Come on in, you’re very welcome.
